Former Dep. Gen. Counsel of US EPA joins G&K
PHOENIX (July 10, 2008) – Phoenix-based Gallagher & Kennedy, P.A., a full service business law firm, announced today the opening of its Washington D.C. branch. Kenneth von Schaumburg joins Gallagher & Kennedy as of counsel and has been appointed to direct the firm’s District of Columbia office.
Mr. von Schaumburg practices environmental law at the firm. He brings an extensive legal background in litigation, environmental policy, regulatory counseling and compliance, government policy advocacy, and energy-related issues to Gallagher & Kennedy’s Washington, D.C. branch.
Mr. von Schaumburg served as deputy general counsel of the United States Environmental Protection Agency, providing legal counsel on a wide variety of issues, as well as advice and recommendations to senior officials in the formulation of agency policies. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Mr. von Schaumburg practiced with a large, international law firm in Washington, D.C., where he advised clients on mining issues, climate-change and energy-related developments, and participated in rulemakings before the United States Environmental Protection Agency. In addition to environmental law and public policy, Mr. von Schaumburg has handled litigation, insurance defense, real estate, corporate, government and municipal practices.

Mr. von Schaumburg was recently appointed to the 2008 Presidential Rank Award Meritorious Review Board. Additionally, he is vice-chair of the American Bar Association’s International Environmental Law Committee and is a climate change and environmental regulation advisor to the International Roundtable on Trade and Competition Policy, Inc.
Mr. von Schaumburg earned his juris doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1993. He completed his bachelor’s degree in 1990 at Loyola College in Maryland.
